This week at the Harbor Theater
"Thunderbolts*" - (PG13; 2 hours, 6 minutes) - Marvel assembles a chaotic crew of misfit antiheroes for a black-ops mission no Avenger would dare touch. Recruited by morally murky CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), the team includes assassin-turned-reluctant-hero Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), the brooding Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), the bombastic Red Guardian (David Harbour), and intense U.S. Agent John Walker (Wyatt Russell)—each carrying heavy baggage and shaky loyalties. Still grieving the loss of her sister Natasha, Yelena is sent to stop a mysterious theft tied to “Project Sentry”—only to discover Valentina’s trap. Trapped in a remote lair, she joins forces with other discarded operatives: Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), the stealthy phaser; Walker, the unstable super-soldier; and Bob (Lewis Pullman), a confused everyman with no clear powers. As the betrayal deepens, allies like Bucky and Red Guardian join the fray, and this ragtag crew dubs themselves the Thunderbolts—named after Yelena’s old youth soccer team. What follows is a gritty, darkly funny mission where trust is rare, survival is uncertain, and heroism is anything but clean-cut. Wednesday June 11, 2 p.m. (OCAP), Thursday, June 12, 7 p.m.
"How To Train Your Dragon" - (1 hour, 56 minutes) - On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated franchise), Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society. With the fierce and ambitious Astrid (BAFTA nominee Nico Parker) and the village's quirky blacksmith Gobber (Nick Frost) by his side, Hiccup confronts a world torn by fear and misunderstanding. As an ancient threat emerges, endangering both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup's friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.
