Two Lady Seahawk basketball fans have sweet idea for team gift
If a gold ball and a trip to the state capital were not enough recognition for the 2019 State Class C Basketball Champion Lady Seahawks, on March 28, the team received more tribute. Sweet Bay owners Ken and Cathy Rayle presented each team member with a personalized Sea Bag, or wristlet. The Rayles have sold Sea Bags, made from old sails, at their shop in Boothbay Harbor for the past 10 years. The Rayles contacted the Portland vendor who makes the wristlets and requested a special bag as a team gift.
The Rayles had a couple of reasons for making a special presentation this season. One is Lady Seahawk Alexis Davison has worked at their shop for the past two years, and second, Sweet Bay would no longer sell Sea Bags manufactured by the vendor.
“We asked them to make a special gold Sea Bag with the team logo emblazoned in blue on one side, and players’ number on the other,” Ken Rayle said.
