Swerving car hits parked semi on Route 27
A Mercury station wagon operated by Natasha Massey, 29, of Chelsea, Maine slammed into an 18-wheeled tractor trailer parked along Route 27 in front of T&D Variety in Boothbay.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Mike Wells, was in T&D Variety when the accident occurred, shortly after noon on September 4. The Boothbay Region Refuse Disposal District owns the tractor trailer.
The passenger side tire on the station wagon was torn off and damage was done to the tractor trailer.
Witnesses at the scene of the accident reported seeing Massey operating her vehicle erratically shortly before the accident occurred.
Massey was transported to St. Andrews hospital in Boothbay Harbor where she appeared in stable condition, according to Deputy Chad Gilbert of Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The tractor trailer truck sustained significant damage to the passenger side fender and front axle, and the station wagon was totaled.
The Boothbay Region Ambulance Service, Boothbay Fire Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Traffic was one way for about an hour.
