Sunshine and summertime
Sunny days and warmer temps have returned to the peninsula and the seasonal change has not been lost on the residents of St. Andrews Village who can now don their newly created visors to venture out into the courtyard or beyond.
The visors were the July project of the Garden Therapy team from the Boothbay Region Garden Club. The team started with unadorned yellow and dark brown visors that could be embellished with a choice of stars in varying sizes, sports symbols including footballs and soccer balls to name a few, and for those seeking a more elegant look, the visors could be "dolled up" with a selection of delicate cloth flowers. Stick on faux jewels of sapphire, emeralds, pearls, diamonds and topaz added a little extra "bling" where desired.
By the end of the project many visors had been made to be distributed to those who could not be present to make their own. Those who did participate were happy to model their creations that will surely get some good use whether it be a quick trip out to the garden to water the potted plants or the next day trip to CMBG (Botanical Gardens) scheduled for August 2.
Also pictured is the first outing of the season to the Gardens by enthusiastic residents and the volunteers who contributed, along with the weather, to making it a beautiful day for all.
"We are so thankful to our volunteers for the work they do and for their dedication to our residents,"saidJerie Phinney, activities director for the Gregory Wing and the Zimmerli Pavilion.
