Tickets for the August 4 Sunflower Celebration at Darrows Barn, sponsored by Mexicali Blues and benefiting Friends of Thai Daughters, are now on sale throughout the community. Each $75 event ticket includes a reverse raffle ticket with a 1 in 300 chance to win $3,000, a live auction, entertainment by Zesty, plus all you can eat and drink. A free shuttle for up to 50 Boothbay ticket holders is available. Stone Cove Catering, Morning Dew Farm, Mook Sea Farms, Long Grain and Best Thai restaurants along with Split Rock Distilling and Oxbow are providing food and drink. Tickets can be purchased at Mexicali Blue’s flagship store in Newcastle, Blue Tin Farm’s stand at the Thursday Farmers Market in Boothbay, Morning Dew Farm’s stand at the Friday Farmers Market in Damariscotta and online at www.friendsofthaidaughters.org.

Names rather than numbers will be called out during the reverse raffle. As names are drawn and called out, those people are no longer in the running for the $3,000 prize. As the drawing gets to the final six names, the final six will have to decide whether to take $500 each or leave their names in for a chance to win more. The final three names will have a choice to take $1,000 or leave their names in for a chance to win the $3,000. It is reminiscent of ‘deal or no deal.’ If the names remain, one person will win $3,000. For those who cannot attend the event but would like to purchase one or more of the limited number of additional $50 reverse raffle tickets, they must have a proxy present to make decisions for them. For those at the event, fun prizes will be given out throughout the reverse raffle.
