Boothbay Harbor Police Officer Devin Polizzotti graduated near the top of his class from the Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Law Enforcment Training Program on Friday, Dec. 16. Of the 61 who successfully completed the program, Polizzotti placed second in his class academically.
The basic law enforcement training course is a comprehensive 18-week course that covers all the aspects of police work, including proficiency with service weapons, firearms, emergency vehicle operation, mechanics of arrest, restraint and control and police investigation. Individuals must also demonstrate a high level of physical fitness. Hasch said successful completion of the course is a requirement for all full-time police officers.
“He has been doing a great job for us and we’re all really proud of him. He worked very hard for this and dedicated himself to the program. I’m really impressed with his academic scores; it’s a very competitive program,” Hasch said.
Polizzotti joined the BHPD as a full-time officer in October 2015.
