Monhegan snags $25K grant
The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded a $25,000 grant to Monhegan Historical and Cultural Museum Association, according to a release from U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King.
The grant was part of a total package of over $400,000. Also receiving grants were the Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor ($220,000) and the Maine Humanities Council in Portland ($159,097).
“These grants are welcomed news and will provide Mainers across the state with new and exciting educational opportunities,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement.
“Scholarship in the humanities serves to enrich our communities and strengthen society by supporting museums, libraries, schools and other avenues of learning. By sustaining and sharing Maine’s cultural heritage, these projects will play a key role in achieving that goal.”
The National Endowment for the Humanities is an independent federal agency that works to enable research, scholarship, and provide other educational opportunities in the humanities. More information about the organization can be found here.
