Mighty cold, snow on the way
Sea smoke rose high over the ocean this morning as temperatures dropped below zero and wind chill warnings of -30 degrees were in effect.
At noon today, a weather advisory on Lincoln County from the National Weather Service in Gray said wind chills will be subsiding this afternoon and that snow will arrive early Saturday morning and transition into a wintry mix by Saturday night. The mix will potentially change to rain Saturday night or early Sunday morning as temperatures slowly warm ahead of an approaching cold front.
There will be snow accumulations of between 3 and 6 inches, along with a trace of ice from sleet and freezing rain. This will make for hazardous travel all day Saturday.
Temperatures will be around 10 degrees tonight and warming to the mid to upper 30s by Sunday morning.
