Man injured in scooter accident
A 72-year-old Colorado man received a severe gash on his arm after losing control of a scooter he was operating at the intersection of Townsend Avenue and Route 96 in Boothbay Harbor September 20 at about 11:45 a.m.
William Anderson, of Lakewood, Colo., was heading north on Townsend Avenue and was turning onto Route 96 when the accident occurred, according to Boothbay Harbor Police Officer Richard Mirabile. Anderson was treated at the scene by Boothbay Region Ambulance Service attendants and brought to St. Andrews Hospital, where he was stitched up and released, said Mirabile.
“When he hit the East Boothbay sign (which was damaged), the mirror on the scooter broke, which may have given him the serious cut on his arm, and he lost control of the scooter,” said Mirabile. The scooter, which was not totaled, is owned by Mainely Scooters on Oak Street.
