Latest on pump replacement
Boothbay Harbor Sewer District Superintendent Chris Higgins announced Wednesday, the crew working on the Union Street pump station and underground lines will soon begin work on Oak Street.
The current timeline for work on Oak Street is Friday, Nov. 10 and Monday, Nov. 13 through Wednesday, Nov. 15.
So traffic will have some dramatic changes, with Oak Street being closed at both ends and available only to local traffic with no on-street parking. Townsend Avenue will therefore be operating with two-way traffic and no on-street parking.
“Local Oak Street traffic will be allowed to enter and exit at each end, from the bank to (The Thistle Inn), two-way (traffic), and then from West Street to Oak Street Provisions, (also) two-way traffic,” Higgins said.
Work will hopefully be done Nov. 15, Higgins said, adding that hot top is expected to be put down the week of Nov. 20. However, he said the hot top will depend on the company and its timeline.
Signage will be placed on Townsend Avenue in front of First National Bank advising people of the upcoming changes.
