Boothbay Region Health Center patients of Dr. Nancy Oliphant will soon get a letter explaining she will be leaving as of Jan. 1, 2019.

Oliphant started her family practice in 1999 and has cared for patients in the Boothbay Region for many years. Boothbay Region Health Care board of directors president Patty Seybold explained, “When Dr. Oliphant sold the practice to our non-profit, Boothbay Region Health Care, Inc., she agreed to a one-year contract. That year is now coming to a close.”

Seybold thanked Oliphant for her help. “We're very grateful for her year of service to the Boothbay Region Health Center and for her coaching on how to run a family practice.”  

The letter encourages Oliphant’s patients to contact their health insurers to change to another of the Center’s primary care providers (PCPs): Dr. Allan Teel or family nurse practitioners Brett Auclaire, APRN, Susan Lord, CNP or Rebecca Traquair, CNP. Appointments with other BRHC medical providers will still be covered by the patient’s health insurance, the letter states. If the insurer does not accept a family nurse practitioner as the PCP, BRHC advises patients to select Dr. Teel.

The letter cautions, “Some insurance companies may automatically assign you to a new PCP that is not associated with our practice. If that has happened to you, you will need to call and correct their records.”

BRHC will welcome a new physician to its practice in January. Details will be announced after all required registrations with insurers are complete.

New winter hours announced:

The Boothbay Region Health Center also announced that patient hours will change for the winter months. While weekday hours (Monday - Friday: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and Saturday hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) remain the same, Sunday hours are now by appointment only.

Those wishing to see Dr. Teel on a Sunday should call 633-1075 before 4 p.m. Saturday to schedule an appointment. For those needing help with a medical issue, the Health Center will continue to be available by phone 24 hours, seven days a week at 633-1075.
