Halloween parade beats the rain
The 150 to 200 ghosts, goblins, witches, warlocks and cute creatures who participated in the 14th annual Halloween parade Thursday afternoon made it through the downtown business district to fill their trick or treat bags and buckets before it rained on their parade.
Sponsored by the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library and CLICK, library staff members Barb House and Mary Pinkham watched the library lawn fill up with costumed kids and adults by about 4:15 p.m.
Stilt walker Peter Panagore called the creatures to order and led them up Howard Street and over to Todd Avenue where the first treats were handed out. Down McKown Street the parade continued and the Townsend Avenue merchants were all out in force as the goodie bags got heavier. At the final stop, the Opera House, photos of the parade participants were taken.
The rain came down a bit heavier as the last parade participants made it back to their cars for the ride home to enjoy their Halloween haul.
