Georgia O'Keefe film for members June 30
One of the great perks of Harbor Theater membership is being invited to free member events twice each year. On Monday June 30, at 6 p.m. will host its summer Members Free film event, “Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light” (2024; 1 hour, 56 minutes), will be preceded at 5:30 by a tasty buffet of southwestern finger foods, refreshing sangria, and crisp white wines.
Narrated by Hugh Dancy and featuring Claire Danes as the voice of Georgia O'Keeffe, this captivating new documentary delves into the life and legacy of the pioneering artist who transformed the American art scene with her bold, intimate depictions of nature. From her early years in the Midwest to her rise in New York’s vibrant art world, and finally to the remote deserts of New Mexico, "Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light" traces the evolution of an artist whose work blurred the line between abstraction and realism. O’Keeffe’s enduring influence on modernism, her bold defiance of artistic conventions, and her life in the vast solitude of the Southwest are brought to life in this rich, meditative journey by director Paul Wagner.
This event is free to Harbor Theater members only. If you want to become a member or to renew your membership, visit https://boothbaycinema.org/membership/ or join in person at the theater after 6 p.m. any evening or 1-4 p.m. Sundays and Wednesdays. Individual membership, $50; family membership, $85. Non-members may attend with a $20 ticket, if seats are available.
