Dr. Roger I. Hardy was summarily suspended by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine on March 11.

The board reviewed information from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, which raised serious concerns about Hardy's fitness to practice medicine.Based upon review of the information, the board determined that Hardy presented an imminent danger to his patients.

An adjudicatory hearing to address the summary suspension will be held in April 2014 and more information will be available at that time. Hardy, who has been licensed in Maine since 1998, most recently practiced in Reading, Mass.This action means that Hardy may not practice medicine in the State of Maine.

All board disciplinary actions are reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank and the Federation of State Medical Boards Action Data Bank. These reports are regularly reviewed by every state licensing board in the country. The board is made up of six physicians, three public members, and a physician assistant appointed by the governor.
