Fish Pier improvements move forward
Despite slight disagreements between the town and the tenants of the Fish Pier, Fuller Marine Services plans continue to move forward on improvements.
The Fullers, along with Public Works Director Jody Lewis, came before the selectmen at the September 9 meeting to show them the preliminary plans drawn up for the new building.
The plans are only preliminary because they need to get approval from a structural engineer to certify the building will be safe before construction can begin.
The town and the tenants disagree as to who should be responsible for the costs of building permits and other expenses that crop up during large construction projects like this.
“If the building already existed, we would not have to pay these costs,” Chuck Fuller said.
Board Chairman Bill Hamblen suggested they draft up a list of costs and go through them together at the next Fish Pier workshop to decide who needs to be responsible for the various costs.
The next Fish Pier workshop, which will be open to the public, is being scheduled for near the end of September.
