Financials, new board members at Health Care annual meeting
Boothbay Region Health Care, Inc.’s board of directors held its annual meeting Jan. 31 at the Health Center offices in the Meadow Mall.
The board’s review of the previous 12 months included the acquisition of Dr. Nancy Oliphant’s practice and additional physicians, nurse practitioners and health coordinators; and completion of the required credentialing.
Board President Patty Seybold presented a summary of the nonprofit’s accomplishments during 2017. Noting it had been “a pivotal year” for the organization, she added that the purchase and sale agreement for Oliphant’s practice closed on Dec. 31, coming “just under the wire.”
Major accomplishments highlighted in the president’s report were significant fundraising successes, lease negotiations, a $300,000 credit line from Bath Savings and securing insurance coverage for the Health Center.
The nonprofit reports a total income for 2017 of $390,293 and expenses of $31,887.68. Expenses include rent, printing, staff training, insurance and legal and professional fees.
The participation of volunteers to help implement the Health Center was noted during the meeting. Among those cited for their efforts were Marcia and Don Soler, Charlie Perry, Ron Ross, Diane Daniels, George Kazakos, Roy Lewis and Lynne Seitzer. The Community Center was also acknowledged for contributing its facilities for meetings.

Cohen has provided initial and final assessments for the program as well as a mid-term evaluation. Her contribution was valued in excess of $2,000.
Carl Hamrin was re-elected to the board for a three-year term and will serve as vice president. Joining the board are John Webster and Maureen Kinsey, who will also serve for three years.
The composition of the board continues to comply with the organization’s bylaws which require that 50 percent of the board’s members are patients of the practice.
