Cottage Connection issues challenge
It is now the height of summer — a time when everyone wants to be in Maine. Our area is a very seasonal resort destination, as many businesses close for the winter months. People who live and work here year round and support the tourism business find this a financial challenge. However, both in summer and in winter, the food pantry is a welcome supplement for over 250 families in the area. In Maine, one in four children is “food insecure.”
We know that many people who come here from away fall in love with our area and our friendly Maine people. These folks are kind, and if given the opportunity, they would like to do something to help the local community after they have returned home. Bringing or buying canned foods or non-perishable foods and leaving them for the food pantry when their vacation is over is not only a nice thing, it can help a lot of people! One item or a bag full, any and all are welcome!
Cottage Connection is making it easy for people to do this by providing paper bags for food pantry donations. Simply drop the bag by our office on your way out of town and we will get the bags to the food pantry. You can use any bag. But if you would like some of these bags, please stop by our office at 675 Wiscasset Road in Boothbay or call us at 207-633-6545. We are challenging everyone in the region to help us make this a banner year for the food pantry.
