The Southport United Methodist Church is hosting its annual “Country Fair” on Wednesday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church and town hall across the street. We are at 372 Hendricks Hill Rd - cross the Southport Bridge and follow the Burma Shave signs for two miles. The church is on the left and the Town Hall is just before it on the right.

Our renowned Maine lobster roll luncheon, complete with chips, beverage and homemade cake for $15, will be available from 11 to 1 at the Town Hall. If you prefer, we also will have chicken salad rolls ($6) or hot dogs ($5).

The Silent Auction items will be displayed on the porch at the Hall - there will be a variety of theme baskets as well as a wide choice of other items. The auction will run from 9 to 1 so bid early and often.

Also beginning at 9, you will find the always popular “Cookie Walk.” Fill a coffee can with your choice of cookies. The food table will offer lots of other “Incredible Edibles.” There are some really great cooks on Southport - come early for the best selections.

For those who arrive at the church first, we will have coffee and goodies available on the porch. Our “Precious Past” section will be offering recently received items from an estate collection, including Heisey glassware, fine china and silver, along with many other collectibles.

We have books for all ages with a great collection of children’s books this year.

And be sure to continue through to the back room where you will find tables of “Attic Treasures” with kitchen items, glassware, fabric, holiday items and more; we have a wonderful assortment of children’s toys and games; and our ‘jewelry ladies’ have a great assortment of gently worn jewelry and accessories priced to sell; the side lawn will have lots of garden delights and other items.

The Fair has been an ongoing tradition, held the third Wednesday of July for 40+ years. This year we will be offering you a second chance to shop. On Saturday, July 22 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain date, July 29) we are having an Island Yard Sale. Tables are available to rent for $15 at the church or folks can hold their own yard sale and be added to the Island Yard Sale Map available at the church.
