Chamber’s board meets Boothbay selectmen’s challenge
Last week, at the March 18 board meeting of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce, the board agreed to match the pledge of $1,000 put forth by the Boothbay selectmen on March 12 to the region's Walkability/Branding project.
“We are very excited to design a creative concept such as a logo and tagline that strengthens the identity and accessibility of the Boothbay region communities,” Executive Director Catherine Fossett said. “We would then use this design ourselves and encourage others to use it to identify this region in different ways, including wayfaring signs, website, social media and more.”
Since 2012, the Walkability Steering Committee has been working to create a unique brand or a common message that fits the Boothbay Harbor region. Fossett has been working closely with Michael Tomko, chairman of the steering committee and others to help make this idea a reality.
Last October, hundreds of residents responded to a survey, and 65 people attended a workshop to identify the region’s values and visions that are inherent to the peninsula and its people. The next step is to hire a marketing company and these donations will help to make that possible. If you are interested in making a donation to help cover the cost of the design firm, please contact Tomko, Create Estates, 207-350-5600 or michael@createestates.net.
Since being founded 52 years ago in 1962, the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce has grown into a first-rate, multi-service membership organization that currently serves over 380 members in the Boothbay Harbor region.
