Car rear-ended on Route 27
A two car accident occurred on Route 27 in front of A Second Season Consignment Store on March 19.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., Rosanne Taylor slowed down and put on her blinker to turn onto Rittall Road. The driver of a Ford Fusion headed northbound behind Taylor saw her turning and proceeded to slow down. However, the driver of a Hyundai Veracruz failed to slow down and rear-ended the Ford Fusion.
Taylor's Subaru wagon was spared, but the Ford and Hyundai were damaged. No injuries were reported at the scene, but the driver of the Hyundai boarded a Boothbay Region Ambulance to get examined. Two poodles riding in the Hyundai appeared to be good condition.
It is unclear what caused the accident, but Taylor speculated it could have been driver distraction or lack of attention.
“I think she may not have been paying 100 percent attention to the road with the dogs in the car,” Taylor said. “I feel so bad.”
The Boothbay Fire Department responded to the accident and reduced Route 27 to a one lane road. All units cleared the scene by 12:25 p.m.
