Bridge update
With water well off and winter wandering toward the island, one final item will be checked off Pratts Island's 2013 to-do list.
The wooden bridge, which has been under construction since late summer, is a few weeks away from completion. Skip Rideout, who has overseen the construction of the wooden bridge, said the pilings have been driven and the bridge has neared its completion.
There is still work to be done; however, the railings are not yet attached and several other items remain unfinished as the project nears its expected finish line before Thanksgiving.
The bridge, which was originally to be funded with taxpayer money, was donated by Pratts Island resident Paul Coulombe, who wished to see the bridge remain wooden.
Work began in late summer on both the Southport and Pratts Island sides of the bridge.
