Seahawks stumble with 2 losses
The Boothbay Harbor baseball team took two losses this past week, leaving the Seahawks with a 1-4 record for the season. The Seahawks are now ranked fourth in the Class D South Heal point standings.
May 2, the Seahawks let seven errors get the best of them as they lost to Dirigo 4-2.
The Seahawks scored the first run of the game in the third inning. The Cougars responded with three in the third and another in the fifth. Boothbay scored the final run in the sixth inning.
Casey Phelps and Maddox Cusumano led batting for the Seahawks with a run and hit each. Liam Jacobs, Sam Markowitz, Mason Paquette and Tyson French each had a hit.
Jacobs recorded 13 strikeouts for Boothbay. He allowed one earned run and one walk. Dirigo threw 14 strikeouts, two earned runs and three walks. Dirigo had three errors.
April 30, the Seahawks took a crushing 15-0 loss to Mountain Valley.
Mountain Valley scored two runs in the second inning, three in the third and 10 in the fourth. The game ended in the fifth inning.
Shawn Gamage had the sole hit for the Seahawks. Aidric Canada, Gamage, Aiden Locke and Avery Fowlie pitched for Boothbay and allowed six hits, four earned runs and nine walks. They threw five strikeouts. At the plate, Boothbay struck out 10 times and had one walk.
Boothbay had eight errors and Mountain Valley had none.
