Boothbay prepares for special town meeting
The Boothbay Board of Selectmen and Planning Board have prepared the articles that will appear on the town warrant for a special town meeting on November 5.
The 2013 town warrant includes five questions that will be voted on by secret ballot. The questions include a tax increment financing district, a $2.5 million dollar bond, ordinance changes, and a citizen-initiated petition, also known as the Stimson Marine case.

Planning Board amendments
In the past several months the planning board has proposed 34 amendments to the town ordinances.
The most prominent changes address zoning maps, sign ordinances and the definitions of “accessory structures,” “non-conforming use” and “home occupation,” according to vice-chairman of the board, Fran McBrearty.
In the following weeks leading up to the special town meeting, the Boothbay Register will explore the amendments and affairs that affect Boothbay voters.
The polls will open at the Boothbay town office at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 5, and public hearing dates will be published in the Boothbay Register accordingly.
