Boothbay Harbor Fest to celebrate sixth annual in September
The sixth annual Harbor Fest will kick off on Labor Day Weekend with a full ten-day schedule of events. The festival takes place at a variety of locations on the Boothbay peninsula, showcasing more than 100 Maine businesses, organizations and individuals.
Major events include:
A Taste of Local Flavor and Live Music Showcase, Sept. 1-3: Beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, ticket holders will visit 13 tasting locations as listed on a weekend passport. Each passport location will offer their own signature taste and live music. Passports are $15 and include food tastings, live music and a kick-off party with 92 Moose DJ Matt James. The event will also feature a Cold River cocktail competition, 21+, purchase required. WCLZ 207 Radio Host, Aimsel Ponti will tour the weekend music scene and the crew from Edible Maine will taste their way around the harbor. The Opera House will feature two spectacular shows; Marcia Ball on Sept. 1 and Adam Ezra Group on Sept. 2.
5k & Half Marathon, Sept. 3: Both races start and finish at Sherman Field on Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. The 5k Trail run/walk offers a beautiful natural setting, winding through Penny Lake Preserve. NEW for 2017 is a half marathon course that offers miles of water views and scenic vistas. The perfect race to plan a family vacation around. Proceeds to benefit the Boothbay Region YMCA, Central Lincoln County YMCA and Lincoln Health, collaborative Diabetes Prevention Program. Be Vibrant Wellness Fair, Sept. 3: The second annual Be Vibrant wellness fair will coincide with the race at Sherman Field. Fair highlights include: zumba and yoga classes, health professionals from around Maine, healing jewelry, nature made fairy houses, American Heart Association CPR training and nationally acclaimed singer songwriter, Taylor Kropp. The event is free and all are welcome. WARE it’s at, Sept. 1-10: Local shops will host events throughout the week to include; trunk shows, wine tastings, artist meet and greets, trivia and haunted history tours.
Restaurant Theme Week, Sept. 4-8: Local restaurants step up their entertainment game, adding a side of fun to their delicious menus.
A Stroke of Art, Sept. 4-10: The third annual plein air invitational will welcome highly acclaimed artists from around the globe to paint the Boothbay peninsula for seven days. Their master pieces will be featured at daily art receptions that are free admission and open to the public. Reception locations include Harborfields Waterfront Cottages, Boothbay Harbor Inn, Fisherman’s Wharf Inn and Caper’s Deli. For more information contact event director, Mary Phelps at bbh@gwi.net
The Vintage Market, Sept. 8-10: Shop, Stay and Play Vintage. The Vintage Market will feature local shops, museums, theaters, vendor booths on the waterfront, creative "pop up" shops, a vintage camping weekend, vintage cars and trains, a vintage cabaret, and a vintage marine-inspired fashion show! Fishin’ For Fashion Show, Sept. 9: This fourth annual sell out event from 2 to 4 p.m. features original designs made from the marine industry, the creative flare of local shops, fine food, a waterfront deck and models arriving by lobster boat. Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Golf Resort. Proceeds benefit local student programs and local students participate in the event production.
