Boothbay Harbor ballot issues, election venue and times
On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the town of Boothbay Harbor will have five articles to vote on on the local town ballot in addition to the four state referendum questions on the state ballot. The five articles will enable voters to choose whether or not the town will prohibit specific retail marijuana activities — storefronts, social clubs, cultivation facilities, manufacturing facilities, and testing facilities. The articles will offer “yes” or “no” options for voting and will read as such:
- Article 2 – To see if the Town will vote to enact an ordinance entitled “Ordinance Prohibiting Retail Marijuana Stores.”
- Article 3 – To see if the Town will vote to enact an ordinance entitled “Ordinance Prohibiting Retail Marijuana Social Clubs.”
- Article 4 – To see if the Town will vote to enact an ordinance entitled “Ordinance Prohibiting Retail Marijuana Cultivation Facilities.”
- Article 5 – To see if the Town will vote to enact an ordinance entitled “Ordinance Prohibiting Retail Marijuana Products Manufacturing Facilities.”
- Article 6 – To see if the Town will vote to enact an ordinance entitled “Ordinance Prohibiting Retail Marijuana Testing Facilities.”
With the antithetical “yes” for anti-marijuana and “no” for pro-marijuana, the wording was chosen to read as it does due to guidance to the board of selectmen by the town’s lawyer.
The election will be held at the Boothbay Harbor Municipal Building from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
