Boothbay Fire Dept. to distribute free smoke detectors March 28-29
Boothbay Fire Department will be distributing free smoke detectors (one per household) for local residents who presently do not have a detector in their residences.
Through the generous support and contributions of concerned citizens and local businesses, the money raised was used to purchase new smoke detectors to distribute to the community.
Resident can receive the smoke detectors by visiting Boothbay Fire and Rescue center Station, located on 911 Wiscasset Road in Boothbay, on either Friday, March 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. or Saturday, March 29 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Residents will be given a brief overview on where to place the smoke detector in their homes, and how to install and maintain it.
Chief Pratt noted “Early detection of smoke is critical to everyone’s safety, and working smoke detectors are a critical lifesaving piece of equipment that should be in everyone’s home. This is a terrific opportunity for residents who do not currently have a smoke detector in their homes to come to the station, talk to firefighters on how best to install it, and how to check and maintain smoke detectors on a yearly basis. By visiting our station and in only ten minutes for this smoke detector orientation, residents will be ready to get the smoke detector to take to their homes and provide that essential smoke detection and early warning capability”.
For residents who have questions and or cannot make the event, but would like to arrange to get a detector on other dates or times, please contact Firefighter Lucian Laurie at 207-241-8865 or Chief David Pratt at 207-380-6247.
