The popular Behind Closed Doors Tours of Castle Tucker return Saturday, June 21. Peek into the nooks and crannies of Castle Tucker on this leisurely in-depth tour that includes rooms and stories not included on the general tour. This unique mansion towering on a hill overlooking the Sheepscot River is entirely authentic, filled with the original furnishings and decoration of the Tucker family who lived here for over 140 years. Castle Tucker is located at 2 Lee Street in Wiscasset. The tour begins at 10 am and concludes at 11:30 am. 

Built in 1807, Castle Tucker was the dream home of Judge Silas Lee and his wife Tempe. The couple entertained often and enjoyed an elegant lifestyle in their new home. In 1858, Richard Tucker, Jr. and his young wife Mollie moved into the house, immediately turning it into a fashionable Victorian home for their family of five children, who went on to live extraordinary lives outside Wiscasset. Hear the stories of this talented and unusual family, passed down through the collection of personal letters saved by their granddaughter. Little was changed in the house after 1900, so visitors see the house as it was when the Tuckers lived here, including the 1858 parlor and a kitchen with four generations of cooking technology still in place where it was used.
