Band to play July 4 at library

The Boothbay Region Community Band will pump up the patriotism on July 4 after all.
With the Fourth of July Celebration on the Boothbay Common recently canceled, where the Community Band usually opened the festivities with a repertoire of patriotic music, band members regrouped and agreed to hold a concert somewhere else on Independence Day.
On July 4 at 10 a.m., the Community Band will perform a 45-minute concert on the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library lawn, according to longtime band member Christine Rubicam.
“An arts and crafts fair will be held at the same time, but people are more than welcome to come and hear us play,” said Rubicam.
Members of the band will also play at Newagen at 8:30 a.m. and at noon at Bayville on July 4.
