Y Arts holds spring dance recital
The annual Boothbay Region Y Arts Dance Recital was held in the Boothbay Region YMCA gym Sunday afternoon, May 30. It was a festive, hour-long show put on by 32 young people under the direction of Y Arts Director Emily Mirabile, with instruction from Emerson Harris and Ejaye Landry. Nineteen numbers were performed.
The Itty Bitty Broadway Dance group performed tap and ballet, respectively, to “Get Back Up Again” and “Do Re Mi.” Dancers included Izzy Bailey, Lily Billings, Olivia Elwell, Emma Foote, Agatha Harris, Emelia Hodgdon, Linnea Huber, Cecilia Jackson, Victoria Koplau, Oscar Mirabile and Grace Thorton.
The Beginner Ballet, Tap and Jazz group, Samantha Colby, Edie Dubrowski, Ford Harris, Scout Martin, Jessie Ullo and Aurora Wallace, danced to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “A Million Dreams.”
“Treat People With Kindness” was the song played for and performed by the Intermediate/Advanced Tap and Jazz group: Imij Armstead, Emma Castonia, Sarah Harris, Alana LaCourse, Sophia Mansfield, Spencer Pottle, Allie Smart, Anna Tomasello and Laura Tomasello. Later they performed to “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”
Jessie Ullo sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to the crowd before more dancing transpired.
The Hip Hop group performed during two songs, “Finesse” and “My Shot.” Dancers included Imij Armstead, Emma Castonia, Malachi Donaldson, Ford Harris, Sarah Harris, Sophia Mansfield, Scout Martin, Spencer Pottle, Jojo Shea and Trey Tibbetts.
Nicholas Colby, Samantha Colby, Ford Harris, Lila Lehouillier, Scout Martin, Jessie Ullo and Kayla Watts of the Intermediate Music Theatre group got the crowd moving to “Footloose” and later performed to “I Need a Hero.”
Spencer Pottle, Trey Tibbetts, Emma Castonia, Sarah Harris and Sophia Mansfield danced to “Agua.”
Laura, Anna and Rebecca Tomasello sang “The Call.”
Scout Martin sang “Never Never Land.”
The Advanced Music Theatre Dance group performed four times: to a ’60s medley, “Who’s Got the Pain,” “It’s Alright,” and “You Will Be Found.” Dancers included Imij Armstead, Emma Castonia, Lindsey Clifford, Sarah Harris, Alana LaCourse, Sophia Mansfield, Spencer Pottle, Jojo Shea, Allie Smart, Anna Tomasello and Laura Tomasello.
The finale was a group effort to “I See Stars.”
