World Day of Prayer worship will take place this year at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor on Friday, March 3 at 3 p.m.

The World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical Christian laywomen's initiative and is celebrated annually in over 170 countries. The origins of World Day of Prayer date back to the 19th century when Christian women of the United States and Canada initiated a variety of cooperative activities in support of women's involvement in mission at home and in other parts of the world. These activities related to concern for women and children, the role of prayer in mission work, and a vision of Christian unity. Each year, worship materials come from a different part of the world. This year materials come from the Philippines. Everyone is welcome.
