Winthrop wins big over Boothbay

The Winthrop Ramblers field hockey team continued its unbeaten season Wednesday, defeating the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 10-0, on senior day at Winthrop.

It was a special day for Rambler senior Maddie Perkins who broke the school scoring record. Perkins scored two goals to give her 69 for her career, breaking the record of 68 Emily Dooling Hamilton set in 2000.

Besides Perkins’ two goals, Winthrop (12-0) got goals from Julia Letourneau (three) Bella Littler, Lauryn Wood, Madeline Wagner, Emma Shuman and Brooke Belz.

Boothbay dropped to 2-8 on the season with the loss. Seahawk goalie Jaelyn Crocker made 12 saves.

The Seahawks will next host Oak Hill (4-6) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Winthrop on Monday at 10 a.m. in a make-up game from Sept. 15.
