The Winthrop Ramblers broke open a close game in the second half with pressure defense and went on to defeat the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks, 51-36, in Class C boys basketball Dec. 8.

Leading 24-22 at the half, the Ramblers forced several Boothbay turnovers to widen their lead.

“We stayed with them the last four minutes of the game but couldn’t capitalize on the offensive end,” said Seahawk coach Dan Hallinan.

Finn Harkins led Boothbay with 18 points, 14 rebounds and four steals. Luke Morley had 11 points and five rebounds.

“Turnovers were the difference tonight,” said Hallinan. “We played hard but ran out of gas at the end.”
