We just got ‘Loomered’
Dear Editor:
In one of his boilerplate speeches at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump facetiously warned his audience, “You don’t want to be Loomered. If you’re Loomered, you’re in deep trouble. That’s the end of your career, in a sense. Thanks, Laura.”
Laura repaid this compliment last week in a 30-minute sit-down at the White House. Like Joe McCarthy, she brought along a list of traitors, some of whom were immediately fired: the senior directors for intelligence, international organizations, and legislative affairs. The most egregious result of this purge, though, was the dismissal of Gen. Timothy Haugh, head of the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command.
At a time when we are under significant cyber attacks from Russia and China (including penetration of our telecommunication networks and Trump’s own 2024 campaign), the firing of our top cyber security administrator at the behest of a 9/11 conspiracy theorist is astonishingly irresponsible. Michael Walz and Pete Hegseth, who chatted on an unsecured messaging app before and during a military strike in Yemen, were not on her list and thus not terminated for their criminal negligence.
Pandering to this serial liar and racist hit woman betrays an obvious weakness in our wannabe ‘strong man.’ Incapable of introspection and prudence, someday he, too, might be Loomered — by Congress and the American people.
Thank you in advance, Laura.
