Wawenock Golf Club opening day May 1
Wawenock Golf Club is excited to announce its official opening day for the 2025 season on Thursday, May 1. Nestled in the scenic heart of Walpole, Wawenock continues to be a treasured destination for golfers of all levels, with a rich tradition of excellence and community spirit.
Returning for another season is longtime PGA professional Bill Connally, who will once again offer playing lessons for members, private instruction, and free clinics throughout the season. Connally’s approachable style, deep knowledge of the game, and dedication to player development have made him a beloved part of the Wawenock experience.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Bill back for another great season,” said Board President Peter Christine. “He brings so much energy and expertise to the course, and our members really benefit from his presence and instruction.”
Adding to the excitement this year is the upcoming opening of Tee Time Café, the club’s new on-site restaurant. The café will be helmed by Julie Bellefleur, who previously held a similar role at Wawenock and is well-known among members for her warm hospitality and creative menus.
“Julie’s return is something we’ve been looking forward to,” Christine added. “Tee Time Café will be a great spot for members and guests to grab a bite and enjoy the beautiful setting.”
As the club prepares for another memorable season on the links, attention is also turning toward a major milestone: Wawenock’s100th anniversary in 2026. Planning is already underway, with board members and volunteers actively compiling the club's history and organizing events to honor a century of golf in Walpole.
“This season is about celebrating the present and preparing for a very special future,” said Heather Hendrix, board secretary and one of the centennial planning volunteers. “Wawenock has been part of this community for nearly 100 years, and we’re excited to honor that legacy in a big way.”
For May, the Wawenock Pro Shop and course will open at 8 a.m.
