'Walking Home' returns to Harbor Theatre to finish the journey July 20

"Walking Home" the documentary film that follows several Boothbay region locals along the 2,200-mile foot path through the Appalachian mountains, will debut at the Harbor Theatre at 7 p.m. on July 20 in Boothbay Harbor.

What started as a father and son's attempt to backpack home from Georgia to Maine, grew into a story of self discovery and epic adventure during Steve and Karl Berger’s 2015 thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail.

The first half of "Walking Home" premiered in the fall of 2016. Local filmmaker Ryan Leighton has since completed the finale and has submitted the full length feature to international film festivals. Leighton said he is excited and elated to be able to debut his documentary film for a hometown audience.

The film will be screened in both parts at 7 p.m. A premiere party will precede the event starting at 6 p.m. and will include beverages from Boothbay Craft Brewery.

No admittance fee necessary, but donations will be accepted at the door. All proceeds to benefit Boothbay Region Community Television. Audience members are encouraged to reserve seats in advance at eventbrite.com. For more information contact channel7@brctv.org.
