Dear Editor:

Article 28 proposes a change of wording in Boothbay's ordinance that would once again allow commercial boatbuilding in the residential zone.

This would bring the ordinance back into alignment with our comprehensive plan, which encourages maritime activities including boatbuilding in all areas of the town.

The new wording allows boatbuilding in residential areas as a home occupation. This will restrict the size and impact of home based boat shops, giving adequate protection to neighbors.

I encourage everyone to vote yes on article 28 on May 5.
