Dear Editor:

If you are lucky, you have someone in your life that you can call for help, regardless of the issue at hand, and know that they will show up with positive energy and simply get things done. For me, that person is Julie Roberts.

I have had opportunities to work with Julie many different times. Several years ago, after observing how effective she was, I encouraged her to run for Selectboard as I knew her kind of talent was both rare and severely needed in local government. The time wasn’t right and she graciously declined so I was very excited when she pulled papers to run for Boothbay Selectboard this year.

Julie is an exceptional human being. She genuinely cares about people and their individual situation. She is patient and thoughtful and takes the time to conduct research to inform herself. Julie listens to everyone and effectively balances points of view – she works very hard and works smart. Julie speaks directly but is not confrontational. She is a wife, daughter and proud mother of two beautiful daughters. She loves the community in which she grew up and wants to make sure it adapts, thrives and remains viable for future generations to call home.

I have witnessed time after time Julie’s positive energy, can-do attitude, diplomacy, patience and common sense in action. If she doesn’t have the answer, she has someone in her contact list who does and she quickly activates them. There is no problem too large or small for Julie and she tackles all challenges with equal measure.

Julie will make an excellent member of the Boothbay Selectboard. As a lifetime resident, she knows the community members, the schools, our traditions and culture. She knows how to work with others and get things done. I wholeheartedly endorse Julie for Boothbay Selectboard and encourage all Boothbay voters to get to the town office and cast your vote for Julie Roberts!
