Vietnam veterans enjoy special dinner

Mon, 04/04/2022 - 2:15pm

Dear Editor:

Approximately 55 Vietnam veterans, wives and five supporters attended a pizza dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29 at the Charles A. Sherman American Legion Hall in Boothbay. It was an evening enjoyed by all.

We would like to thank the following businesses and people for the great pizza and excellent salads: Boothbay Harbor House of Pizza, East Boothbay General Store, Pier 1 Pizza, Hometown Convenience, Circle K, T & D Variety, and Ports Pizzeria/Jeff Teal. Blueberry cakes were donated by Amy Ronan, chocolate cakes from Sarah Giles and Stephanie Hawke, nice salad from Nancy Van Dyke; beer from Funky Bow Brewery/Paul Lorrain, donations of soda; polo shirts from Berg Activewear; and a military whale carving from Mike Lewis. And thanks to Dave Patch and the American Legion for use of the hall.

We would like to wish Happy Birthday to Barry Sherman and Ray Soler who celebrated their birthdays on March 29.

I would like to thank our family members for their support — Troy, Elliot, Laura A. and Arabella — and especially my wife of 54 years, Laura W. She is the love of my life, my best friend, my rock and my greatest supporter. Behind every man is a great woman! It reminds me of this old saying in the business world: “Would you like to speak to the man in charge or the woman who knows what’s going on?!”
