Viega ‘Art in Wood’ for holiday giving

Steve Viega is at work in his Walpole studio and workshop, designing and creating unique gifts from wood.

His collection includes spalted wood bowls, plates, natural edge bowls, unique jewelry boxes of his own design and other items that bring out the inner beauty of the wood. Each piece is finished simply, with walnut oil or wax, so the so that the wood can tell its own story.

Past projects include bowl turnings, tables from reclaimed wood, twin trundle beds, a fireplace mantle, built-in drawers, a country cupboard, ship’s ladder, cedar doors, seaman’s chest, bookcases, media cabinet, carved signs, and mirror frames … just to name a few.

Viega also specializes in restoring wooden boats, canoe restoration, cane and rush seating, carved wooden signs, and furniture restoration.

Viega’s studio is located at 492 State Route 129 – watch for his wooden sign and flag; the studio is tucked up behind the red house. Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday through Christmas. The studio reopens Memorial Day weekend 2016.
