Veterans visit the Village

Wed, 11/11/2020 - 4:30pm

St. Andrews Village residents and staff members turned out for a Veterans Day parade through the Boothbay Harbor facility as the car and truck operators and passengers, as well as a few marchers, waved flags and waved their hands to the spectators. The spectators waved and applauded, held American flags and red, white and blue pinwheels provided by the Village.

American Legion Post 36 members put together the parade. The 10 vehicles included the Legion’s VETS mobile temporary shelter and van, veterans’ vehicles, a Southport fire truck, and a trailer of military flags. Post Commander David Patch drove the lead car which hauled the trailer. After the first pass by the main facility, the parade turned around at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church and made a return trip to greet the spectators.

Village staff members handed out baked goods to the parade members as they passed by the Inn part of the Village.
