The Boothbay Region Veterans Project continues to seek information on the following veterans who served stateside and oversees during the time period from the start of the Korean War to the end of the Vietnam War. Criteria for participating in the project are that the veteran was a resident of Southport, Boothbay, East Boothbay, or Boothbay Harbor at the time they enlisted or were drafted into the service.

If you do not see your name or relative’s name listed below, it means that I have made contact with the veteran or mailed out a questionnaire during the month of May. If you have not received a questionnaire at the time this article is published, please contact me and I will get one out to you immediately.

Please note, the names listed in bold type below show up in either “Southport: The War Years, An Island Remembers” or “Heroes Among Us: A History of the Boothbay Region During the Second World War.”

It does not necessarily mean I have the veteran’s whole story completed, it just indicates that I know they served during the Korean and/or Vietnam wars, after their service in the World War II.

Some of the names listed are people you see around town every day, but for whatever reason, contact has not been made yet or they didn’t respond to the initial questionnaire that was mailed.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for photographs of the veterans in uniform and any images that they took while they were serving in the military. If information is not found on a veteran, their name will be listed in the book, so they will not be forgotten.
