Veggies to Table accepting applications for an AmeriCorps Vista

At Veggies to Table, a grow-to-donate farm, we are busy planning the upcoming growing season and excited to start the first of our seedlings in March.

We look forward to a successful third season growing organic produce and flowers to donate to community members experiencing hunger.

We have been accepted into the AmeriCorps Vista program ‘End Hunger in Maine by 2030’ and are looking for a qualified team member to help us achieve our ambitious goals to feed our community. This is a full-time, year-long capacity building position.

We plan to expand our production of organic produce and flowers, and to educate recipients, students, and volunteers about healthy food and sustainable living. In order to accomplish this, we must build lasting systems to efficiently serve the growing needs of our community. This position will be fully involved in all aspects of making Veggies to Table a stronger organization able to help our community into the future.

Veggies to Table serves over 30 pantries, schools, summer lunch programs, agencies and partners in the Lincoln County, Maine area and beyond.

Our key partners include Healthy Lincoln County with the Lincoln County Food Initiative, Lincoln County Gleaners, Summer Lunch Program, Lincoln Academy, Wiscasset Middle High School, Wayfinder Schools, Coastal Kids preschool, Morris Farm Help Yourself Shelf, Rising Tide, CLC and Boothbay YMCAs and FARMS at the Y, and the Jefferson, Whitefield, Waldoboro, Boothbay Region and Newcastle pantries.

Due to COVID-19, feeding America estimates that food insecurity will increase from 12.9% to 18.1 %, in Lincoln, County. Furthermore, Full Plates Full Potential notes that 43% of Maine students require school meals daily. Our work will help ease the burden and stress experienced by many local families and seniors.
