Used Bookstore celebrating holidays beginning July 25
The Friends of the Library will be offering a fabulous selection of Christmas and holiday books beginning July 25 in the Used Bookstore in Boothbay Harbor. Stories, crafts, decorating, inspirational — dozens of topics are included in this seasonal collection which includes books for children. Don’t wait until the snow flies to get ready for Christmas!
The beautifully renovated library is now open but used book donations should be left at the Used Bookstore, not at the library. A new (second-hand) donation bin with plenty of room for all your donations has been installed at the back of the book store with easy access from the library parking lot.
The Used Bookstore offers donated books at bargain prices. The nooks and crannies of the historic Hyde House are stuffed with delightful discoveries on all subjects. You’ll find cookbooks in the dining room, Maine authors in the parlor, mysteries in the hall and crafts in the kitchen with a pantry full of CDs and videos next to the cozy children’s corner. The famous porch books are available 24/7 for a small donation.
The proceeds from the used book sales go almost entirely to support the library. The book store is run solely by volunteers with very little overhead. New volunteers for easy 2-hour shifts at the desk are always needed and welcomed. For the past several years the book store has donated $30,000 to the library.
The bookstore is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at 15 McKown Street behind the library.
