A two-vehicle accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 2 on Route 27 in Boothbay.

According to the Lincoln Country Sheriff’s Office report, Keith W. Anderson, 26, of Readfield and Kali L. Rodriguez, 43, of Virginia Beach, Virginia were involved.  Ms. Rodriguez was heading northbound in her 2023 Subaru Ascent, stopped and waiting to turn left near the Boothbay Animal Hospital. Mr. Anderson was operating his 2019 Ford F-550 northbound, approaching Rodriguez’s vehicle and he stated he did not realize her vehicle was stopped and swerved right to avoid hitting her. The edge of the box on the bed of the driver’s side of the bucket truck (Anderson’s vehicle) struck the back right quarter panel of Rodriguez’s vehicle, before going off the roadway to the right and into a ditch. Deputy Jeffrey Rogers was the investigating officer.

Boothbay Region Ambulance Service responded and was leaving the scene when the newspaper arrived. Hawke Motors sent a wrecker to the scene and eventually pulled the truck back onto the road.

Boothbay firefighters alternated the northbound and southbound traffic for about 30 minutes before the scene was cleared.
