Boothbay Region Elementary School Principal Shawna Kurr updated families and the public March 29 that two more positive cases of COVID-19 were discovered from contact tracing and follow-up tests after the positive case identified March 18. Due to the three positive cases, Maine Center for Disease Control has identified BRES as having an outbreak.

Kurr said no further closures or contact tracing will be necessary as the two who tested positive remain in quarantine.

Said Kurr, “School officials are monitoring this situation in collaboration with the CDC and will alert our community if there are any changes to our current status.”
