Dear Editor:

The 2024 Turkey Trot 5k was a great success. Thanks to donations made by participants, spectators, online, and the Youth Group at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, nearly $3,200 was raised. These funds will go towards supporting the food closets at our two Boothbay Region schools. 

There were 140 runners and walkers, who were greeted by Honorary Starters, Dave Parkhurst, Mike Harrison and Clayton Pottle, who were recognized with Lifetime Achievement Awards for all they have done for so many of our community youths.Fittingly these awards were presented by their respective grandchildren. 

Thanks to Boothbay Register reporter Fritz Freudenberger for his great coverage of this event from start to finish. His story and photoscapture the fun participants were having while supporting a very worthwhile event. A shout out to Grover's Hardware for donating a silver bucket used to collect donations.
