Trunk show and workshop by Beth Helfter of EvaPaige Designs

Mon, 07/23/2018 - 8:45am

Clamshell Quilters, in conjunction with Area 2 of Pine Tree Quilters Guild, will be hosting a trunk show and workshop by Beth Helfter of EvaPaige Quilt Designs. The trunk show will be on Friday, Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will begin the next morning, Saturday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. sharp and will run until 3 p.m. Both events will be held at the Alna Fire Department, 1579 Alna Road, Alna.

The trunk show, “Give it a Scrap Slap,” is based on Beth’s experiences during a yearlong stint at “Quiltmaker” redesigning a quilt in each issue using only scraps. This led her to create more of her own designs using existing quilts as inspiration. We will get to see the quilts and hear Beth’s insights on the design process.

In her six-hour workshop, “Vinnie Loves Maude,” Beth will teach about piecing tricks, value, color placement, and fabric themes. At the end of the day each participant will leave with several blocks and background sections to use as a substantial start on a finished quilt top.

The cost of the trunk show is $8 per person (non-refundable) if you pre-register or $10 at the door. There will be light refreshments and door prizes. Beth will have some of her merchandise available for purchase.

The cost of the workshop is $45 per person (non-refundable) which includes lunch and the “Vinnie Loves Maude” quilt pattern, and a goodie bag. The number of participants is limited to 30, so register early, as space may run out.

Pre-registration ends on Sept. 1. To reserve your place for the trunk show and/or the workshop, please contact Joanne Minot at joanneminot@gmail.com who will send you a registration form via email. When we receive your payment you will be sent a receipt, a materials and homework list, and directions to the Alna Fire Department.
