Think spring with the Boothbay Region Garden Club

It’s not just tea and cookies anymore! The Boothbay Region Garden Club contributes much to the communities on our peninsula. From the excitement of the Festival of Trees to the weekly weeding of the Armillary Garden at Boothbay Center, members of the Boothbay Region Garden Club help keep local communities beautiful and provide educational opportunities to those who want to know more about gardening and protecting the environment .

The annual House and Garden Tour is one of the two major fundraisers, the Festival of Trees the other, that provides the revenue the garden club then uses to provide beautiful plantings, window boxes, wreaths on post offices and municipal buildings, and maintenance of the Blue Star Memorial Highway marker. Boothbay Region Garden Club members host monthly garden therapy activities with residents of St. Andrews Gregory Wing, help educate local school children on topics such as protecting pollinators and preventing forest fires, and provide scholarships to young people studying horticulture as well as YMCA camperships to deserving children. Monthly topics include designing gardens, growing food and flowers, what plants help prevent ticks, planting to encourage bees and other pollinators, arranging flowers for our homes, and many others. Joining a garden club supports all these activities and more. Come visit and see what you think...it’s not just tea and cookies anymore!

The Boothbay Region Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church. Announcements of each meeting are always in the Register.
