Hats off to the folks at the Mobil station at Union Street and Townsend Avenue. On Aug. 4, one fellow there came out of the station and filled up my gas tank, despite my repeated offers to do it myself. I told him, "I have not had anyone do that for 15 years!"

 

Then, when my recalcitrant car hood refused to open, no less than three people came to my rescue, got it open and even oiled the lock.

 

This is wonderful, small-town Maine service.
