Thank you for your service, but …
Dear Editor:
A family member is a Vietnam veteran who was exposed to Agent Orange. He receives excellent care at Togas … for now. Over the years, veterans have endured trials and tribulations while serving and even after returning home. We say “Freedom is not free” and yet we sit idly by while this administration takes a chainsaw to much needed and deserved services.
Then there are our active duty service members. I have two friends with sons in their 20s. One is in the Army, the other is in the Marines. What message are we sending these young men who have dedicated themselves to serve our country regardless of the outcome?
I must believe that this is a nonpartisan issue. If you're proud to be an American and you truly care about our veterans, call Susan Collins at 207-622-8414, and tell her to protect our dearly loved, respected, and honored veterans. If you believe this is “The land of the free and home of the brave,” you will want what is best for the people who put their lives on the line to give us the freedom we so cherish.
Whether you are a Trump supporter or not, this is one issue where we should all stand united. Let us show our veterans that we are ready to fight for the benefits they've earned.
A sincere thank you for your selfless dedication to our country.
A grateful American.
